National Championships Qualifiers 2011

If you can manage to make a National Qualifying time you will have achieved something only a very small percentage of the swimmers in the country can achieve. Imagine how many people there are in your age group at your club. Now imagine how many clubs there are all over the UK. The people named below are faster than 99% of the people in their age groups. I hope that gives you an idea of what a great stepping stone a National Qualifying Time is... next stop, National Age Group Medalist!?
Jarvis Parkinson,
This will be Jarvis's second trip to the National Age Group Championships, having swum in the 2010 championships. At the 2010 gala Jarvis managed to qualify for finals in 4 events, coming 6th in the 100 fly, 10th in the 200 fly, 9th in the 200 free and grabbed a bronze medal for 3rd place in the 100 free.

So far this year Jarvis has bagged qualifying times for two events the 200 fly and 400 IM, but he is very very close to a couple of other qualifying standards, so expect the list to grow!

Caitlin Dixon,
This year has seen Caitlin shine as one of the best distance freestyle swimmers Doncaster swimming has ever produced. Swimming as a 13 year old this year Caitlin already owns the senior womens 800 freestyle record! But distance isn't the only think Caitlin has in her repertoire, this year she has also qualified for the 200 freestyle (I wouldn't bet against a 400m qualifying time too at some point this year).

In 2010 Caitlin qualified for one individual swim at Nationals, the 200 fly, and finished 15th. It looks like this season Cait's freestyle is fairing a little better than the fly and this just goes to show that the more events you try to perfect, the more likely you are to have a back-up plan if your "number 1 event" suddenly drops off.
Jamie Clarke,
2011 will see Jamie make his first trip to Nationals. He has qualified for the 100 backstroke, and is a whisker away from the 200 back qualifying time.

Jamie is one of those swimmers who just gets on with what the coaches ask him to do and it's great to see that he's rewarded himself with his first NQT. There will be plenty more where this one came from in the coming years, I'm sure.
