After one of our busiest weekends and some brilliant swimming by all our teams we can look back with a lot of satisfaction.
Saturday saw Round 3 of our Pocklington 1st Division challenge held at our Armthorpe pool. With a delayed start due to one club having a transport issue we were raring to go. After the 6th race we had our noses in front and never looked back. There was some superb swimming on show from all the teams Pick of the races for me was Jarvis's 100 Breaststroke which he just won in 1.10.25 with the Wakefield swimmer 2nd in 1.10.52. But the most impressive thing that we saw was everyone's willingness to battle for the team. The result was Armthorpe 158 Wakefield 132 South Hunsley 107 Pocklington 70 this means that we are currently in 1st place and although we miss the next round we will go into the final round in November 1 point ahead.
Sunday was the day of the Team Championship- The Bridon Shield. Many magnificent swims and very close finishes which we were winning by finishing strongly. The great thing was that great team spirit was matched by our self discipline. No DQs on Saturday or Sunday a big, big well done for that. We were in front after session 1 with Adwick just getting too many DQ's and we stayed ahead for the next session. It was very good to see our Masters returning again who led by example against two very good Adwick teams. Race of the day was the 9 year old Girls Breaststroke who came away with gold on merit. I was very proud of the disciplined way we battled for every point this weekend - congratulations to all.
