Sophie Taylor - Commenwealth Champion

Sophie Taylor has completed a very successful week at the Commonwealth Games by winning gold in the 100m Women’s Breaststroke Final in a National and Commonwealth Record Time of 1:06.35. She then won Silver in the Women’s 4 X 100 m Medley Relay Final.

Sophie who is just 18 years old was born in Sheffield and learnt to swim there before moving to Doncaster where she was a member of Armthorpe Swimming Club and Doncaster DARTES for four years until she moved to Harrogate and swam out of Leeds. At Armthorpe we all knew she was going to be a very good breaststroke swimmer but achieving this level of success is really brilliant.  At Armthorpe and DARTES we might have only played a small part in Sophie’s overall development into a topflight swimmer but we are very proud of our Commonwealth Champion.
