This year we tried a new format for the championships by splitting the pre-speed swimmers from the older competitive swimmers. On Saturday it was the Juniors who had an age range of 6 - 9 yrs. There were a lot of very good swims but I have picked out my two best ones - firstly James Ellis one length front crawl in a time of 21.31 an exceptional time for a 7 year old. Secondly, Eleanor Idle-Crane in back stroke with a time of 24.32 and at 8 years old was the second fastest out of all swimmers. A big well done to James and Eleanor. It was very pleasing to see that all the swimmers had good starts and everyone finished at the end of the pool. I thought that the gala ran very well my thanks to some of our swimmers who time kept and helped out on the day and also parents who were doing something new in helping to run the gala. All finished by 5 p.m. and hopefully happy swimmers and parents.

The Senior Championship ran like clockwork so my thanks to everyone involved it was over quicker than I thought and as on Saturday there were some great times and close finishes. It was very nice to see the DARTES swimmers who managed to make it along with Vikram an ex swimmer of the club who has moved to the Isle of Man but wanted to come back as a guest swimmer. For the first time in many years we had two age groups where the overall points were shared - 9 year old girls and the open girls.

I have attached times and positions from both days. Please remember the Presentation and Party Night on Saturday 7 December at the Armthorpe Community Centre.
