This was our first team gala of the 2017 season. As usual Armthorpe Leisure Centre was full and expectant. They were not disappointed as this was a very close gala with Adwick and Armthorpe taking it in turns to have their noses in front. We had a few younger swimmers who had not experienced this type of competition before and they handled the pressure very well. With 61 pb's we could not have asked for more effort and there were some really thrilling swims. Meagan White swimming her first 100 Breastroke race never gave up and just won in a great finish. Leah Hague its fair to say has had her training disrupted during the last 6 months went under the 30 second barrier for 50 Free. Elizabeth Ellis in her first gala, swimming up in the 11 year olds knocked 5 seconds off one length Free from her previous pb 11 months ago. I could go on as there really were a lot of great swims but the most pleasing thing was we swam as a team and there were no dq's so a big well done. In the end we won by 3 points but Adwick did have a dq so there is nothing between the two teams. The next round of the pocklington is at Adwick they will come back strong so be prepared. Final score was:
Armthorpe   160    Adwick   157    Wakefield   86    Edlington   70
