Pocklington Gala at Gainsborough - PB's added

On a very hot Saturday evening on 14 July we had the first of two Pocklington galas unfortunately, two clubs dropped out leaving Adwick, South Axholme and Armthorpe. First thing to say is thanks to the DARTES swimmers who were at a weekend meet at Sheffield and broke into it to make the dash to Gainsborough for the gala. We had a few swimmers who were swimming in their first Pocklington and many swimmers who were swimming up an age group or swimming strokes they don't normally do. There were many great swims some were fast like the Open Boys Freestyle team where 3 of them swam their 50 in 25 seconds and other swims were just brave swims such as Freya's 100 Butterfly. The great thing about this gala and all our galas this year has been the fantastic team spirit and support from parents - for me this is what its all about. Needless to say there were many pb's and the times are up on the Notice Board at Armthorpe and as an attachment to this report. The final Pocklington is to be held at Adwick on 13 October so please get into your diaries. This year the trophy will be decided by the club with the most accumulated points and Adwick will most certainly put up a strong team at home. The result on Saturday was:        Adwick     146        South Axholme    118        Armthorpe    164
A great result so a big well done to ALL swimmers.  32 PBs
