posted 23 Jun 2014, 05:19 by Pete Hardy

The Kingfishers made their first appearance at the Jorvik Sprints with a small but determined team of swimmers.  This is a great meet for the entire squad as swimmers can win medals in the A, B and C graded categories irrespective of their entry times.

The drive to Leeds for the morning session was very pleasant and the John Charles Centre is a superb venue to host the event – you can even watch divers from the 15m board going through their paces.

The morning crew was Marise Garbutt, Kealy Pattrick, Kai Davis, Joseph Greenhalgh and Daniel Humphrey.  A summary of their performances are as follows:

Marise – 5 personal bests out of 5 and she came home with a 6th and a 4th place medals.  She achieved 3 A grade times and 2 B grade times.

Kealy - 3 personal bests out of 5 and she came home with a 1st,2nd and 3rd place medals.  She achieved 3 A grade times and 2 B grade times.

Kai – 4 personal bests out of 5 and just needs to practice his turns in the IM.  He came home with two 3rd , a 4th and a 5th in the C grade.

Joseph – 2 personal bests out of 5 and he came home with a 3rd, and two 5th places.  He achieved 2 B grade and 3 C grade times.

Daniel – some very close runs for his personal bests but they eluded him.  Daniel came home with four medals; a 1st, 3rd, and two 4th places in the C grade.

The afternoon posse were Charlotte Britten, Amelia Haxby, James Hammond and Josh Greenhalgh.  A summary of their performances are as follows:

Charlotte – 5 personal bests out of 5 and she came home with a 1st, 3rd, 5th and a 6th place.  She achieved 2 A grade and 3 B grade times.

Amelia – 3 personal bests out of 4 and she won a 2nd and two 4th place medals.  She achieved 1 A grade, 2 B grades and a C grade.

James – 5 personal bests out of 5 and he won a 1st, 2nd, 4th and two 5th places.  He achieved 3 B grades and 2 C grades and came away as overall 15+ Top Boy.

Josh – 2 personal bests out of 5 and he won a 5th and two 6th places.  He achieved four A grades and a B grade time.

Well done to all our swimmers and many thanks to the helpers and officials on the day: Pete, Julie and Jill.
