John Harrimans Championship

posted 13 Mar 2017, 08:32 by Pete Hardy
On Sunday,  25 of our swimmers entered the John Harrimans and for many this was their first major event. There were many great swims and PB's will be added to this short report very shortly. The results can be seen through the DMASA website. Go to the home page and then click on www.openmeets in the paragraph about the championship.
Natasha Powell hit the wall on butterfly but wanted to continue and managed to grab a medal for backstroke in spite of a lump on her head!!
It was nice to see Thalia Woods back in competition and picking up medals again. Dzulija Karnevska didn't win any medals but came away with four speeding tickets instead. Nicholas Honeybone and Callum Broadhead swam 25 Free in 15.51 and 15.70 - great swims boys. Owen Green who only joined pre speed in November swam out of his skin and won a Bronze for Backstroke and a silver for Frontcrawl much to the delight of the McGarry family. In the afternoon session our 9 year old boys and girls swam with Grace Burton bringing home three medals and two for Vikram Bhadouria. The swimmer who showed the most improvement from the Schofield Championships to the Harrimans was Hayden Siddle who for back/breast and frontcrawl knocked of 17.45 seconds and finished with a massive 16.58 improvement for 50 fly and going home with a medal. Well done to all our swimmers I am sure when the pb list comes out there will be a lot of happy swimmers.
Pete
