BML Round 2 at Scunthorpe

posted 1 Mar 2020, 10:12 by Pete Hardy
Round 2 was held in a very hot Riddings Pool at Scunthorpe. The chief coach of Scunthorpe welcomed me by saying he had put out his strongest possible team - and it showed. They were in front from the start and never looked like being caught with Armthorpe in 2nd place some 56 points behind. I thought we put in a very workmanlike performance although we do need to do a bit of work on the finish of races.  Having said that I was very pleased with 2nd place which gives us 7 points clear of Wakefield and 46 in front of Adwick. It was the boys that caught my attention yesterday. Harvey, as our senior swimmer led from the front getting a 1st place and two 2nd places whilst Nick got two 1st places and one 2nd place. My thanks to Nick and Cole (both already swimming up a year in the 14 year age group) for swimming in the Open Men's relay teams as well as their own age group because we were desperately short of older swimmers. Well done to the 10 year old boys team for getting two 2nd places in the relays and the girls 14 year old team for getting two 1st places in the relays. Meagan Whites 50 breast stroke was very impressive coming home in 1st place.  Well done to everyone who swam yesterday.
The 3rd round of the BML is on May 17 at Adwick who I am sure will put out a strong team.
Final points were : Scunthorpe - 171   Armthorpe - 115   Wakefield - 108   Adwick - 97
