On Sunday we all got up to see that we had snow in the night. During the morning I had many enquiries - is it still on??  Yes it was and what a good gala it turned out to be. The other clubs in our division Barnsley. Wakefield and City of Sheffield all managed to get to Armthorpe for an exciting afternoons swimming. There were lots of great swims on display in front of a packed poolside which was noisy and supportive all afternoon but when we got to the cannon at the end of the gala the noise was truly impressive so many thanks to parents and swimmers who created such a good atmosphere. As this was round 1 of the year some of the younger swimmers were experiencing the excitement of competitive swimming for the first time outside the club environment. They all did extremely well. There were many great swims from everyone and lots come into mind as I am writing this now, Maddie Johnsons fightback in the girls relay, Aaron Cocker and Thomas Barley's first big gala and at the other end of the spectrum Christian Siminon our French Masters swimmer in the open boys team, and Eleanor Lakin swimming her own age group and breastroke in the Open category and coming away with a win and a pb. There were lots and lots of great swims and I was very pleased with the teams performance against clubs who are much bigger than ourselves. In the end we finished second to Barnsley a position I would have been absolutely delighted with before we started. So, its a great start to the season lets keep it up.
Result ; Barnsley   -    142        Armthorpe   -   137      Wakefield   -   111     City of Sheffield   -   91
** PBs just added  77 of them wich is really outstanding
