We've moved down to division 3 but that does not mean that the competition is any easier. We were up against a growing Dearne Valley team, Scunthorpe and Knottingley and we know we are in for a stiff challenge this year.
There were lots of new team gala swimmers in our line up as well as a welcome return for Millie Colbear. Marise Garbutt, Charlie Bolwell and Lauren Christmas were asked to swim in unaccustomed events for them but they did this with good spirits, with Marise in particular really blitzing her swims with good personal bests.
This was the first team gala in which I was able to really watch every swim, having the easy job of relay splits, and saw lots of things which I could quickly feed back to each swimmer as well as areas in which we will be working on during training - overall I can say that the coaches and team managers were exceedingly proud of the swimmers and their attitude.
There were 57 personal bests on the day - Tom Wilson finally has gone sub 34 for his 50m backstroke so he can be rightfully pleased with this swim.
The end result was Dearne Valley 204, Scunthorpe 196, Armthorpe 181 and Knottingley 103.
Well done swimmers and many thanks to the volunteers.
