Barnsley League Gala 9th July

posted 11 Jul 2016, 05:09 by Pete Hardy
This was the 3rd out of 4 galas for 2016 and was held once again at the very warm Stocksbridge pool. For various reasons many of our regular girl swimmers were not available for this important gala. However, it did give us the opportunity to let other swimmers show what they could do. So we arrived at Stocksbridge with some inexperienced swimmers and also had to ask some swimmers to swim strokes that they didn't usually do. At the end of the gala we came 4th only 7 points behind Chapletown a result which I would have gladly taken before a swim had taken place. So a huge thank you to all the team because your performance means that we are still hanging on to 3rd place in the division and now need to beat Chapletown at home in September to remain in this very competitive 2nd Division of the Barnsley League. 44 new PB'S were achieved on the day and as this was the second Barnsley gala in less than a month with some swimmers also swimming a Pocklington gala as well says a lot for the effort that everyone put in. Well done to all. Times and pb's are shown in the files below. The final scores were:
Armthorpe    108    City of Sheffield    125    Chapletown    115    Stocksbridge    145
